Project Summary
The motivation for the project is rooted in the urgency of addressing climate change and the recognition of young people's potential as powerful agents of change in combating this global crisis. The unique approach of the project combines multimodal literacy, digital literacy and climate education to empower young people with the knowledge, skills, and motivation to take meaningful action against climate change.
Ecoexpress aims to train 140 youth workers in delivering climate change education, to empower young people with digital skills, including data visualization, and content creation, to effectively communicate climate messages and engage at least 500 young people on social media platforms by the end of the project. It also plans to evaluate and assess changes in youth climate awareness, behavior, and engagement, by conducting a comprehensive impact assessment. The project also includes three climate change webinars per country, engaging local communities, policymakers, and experts to promote climate action, as well as active citizenship among young people by engaging them in climate actions at local, national, and EU levels. The final purpose of the project is to leverage digital skills and technology to amplify youth voices, advocate for climate action, and mobilize communities for sustainable practices

Through EcoExpress, young people would gain a dynamic and accessible climate change education experience. The utilization of multimodal learning would ensure that complex climate science became comprehensible and relatable to young minds. By employing various communication modes, such as text, images, videos, and interactive elements, EcoExpress would effectively convey the urgency of climate action, the consequences of environmental degradation, and the importance of sustainable practices.
The needs for implementing the project were:
-climate change awareness and education programs for young people, addressing the urgency and severity of the climate crisis;
- strategies to empower young people with the knowledge and skills required to take effective action against climate change;
- tailored support and mentorship to empower disadvantaged youth with the necessary knowledge and skills to actively participate in climate action initiatives.
This project aims to:
-Raise climate awareness among European youth using innovative literacy methods
-Train 140 youth workers for effective climate education by Year 2
-Increase youth climate literacy by 85% through assessment by Year 2
-Evaluate youth climate impact comprehensively by Year 2
-Promote EU-wide active citizenship through climate action
-Amplify youth voices via digital skills for climate advocacy
-Empower youth for sustainable climate action using literacy and digital skills
